Adam Larter: Edinburgh Fringe 2018 interview

Hello. How are you today?

I am very well, I was really grumpy yesterday but today I’ve had some chips and I’m feeling a-ok.

At this stage, how closely does your programme blurb match the content of your show?

Very very closely. There is disco. There is a medieval play. I am in it. It’s so incredibly accurate. I wonder how they know all these things about me before I come up. Kind of makes you think that there is someone at EdFringe who has been watching me all year long. When do they start watching me? When do they stop watching me? Why are they doing this???

Who are you sharing a flat with and how will you help each other survive the month?

I’ll be staying with Hannah Cameron in her lovely central Edinburgh flat. We’ll be doing a lot of puzzles and probably eating noodles and watching Poirot. Great survival techniques. Ali Brice is staying around the corner, hopefully he’ll come over and play some Settlers of Catan.

Any shows you’re excited about seeing?

Oh yes please! I’m excited about Hannah & Charlie are Making It at Canon’s Gait, Sam & Tom at Black Medicine (which I’m directing but no big deal)
Aaaaand also Marny Godden, Lucy Pearman, Tony Law, Beth Vyse, Twonkey, Mat Ewins, Luke McQueen, Cassie Atkinson, Sooz Kempner, Helen Duff, Bob Slayer and Margaret Thatcher Queen of Soho.

Michael Brunstrom isn’t doing a show at the fringe this year so there is an opening slot for what will be my favourite show of the fringe.

Other than the great shows, what else are you looking forward to about your trip to Edinburgh this year?

Well. I’ll be walking (Average 25,000 steps a day). Visiting the Thermos Museum. Chips and Curry sauce at the Clamshell. Might do some painting. Might watch some Poirot. Might paint some Poirot.

The Fringe’s tagline this year is ‘Into The Unknown’. What do people not know about you?

I’m only doing the Fringe in an attempt to slowly collect every type of low-value foreign currency.

I’m bored of all the podcasts I currently subscribe to. Can you recommend me a good one please?

PumJark: This is a serious medical drama set in Cornwall.
Each episode the team of experts discuss diseases that different stones have.

Here’s a space to write about anything you want. Go for it.

I’M TOO REAL FOR THE FRINGE.
TIREDDD OF ALL THE POLITICALLY CORRECT NONSENSE AT EDFRINGE?
WELLL HERERRREEEEES THE SHOW FOR YOU?
FINALLY SOMEONE IS GOING TO SAY IT.
FINAAAALLLLY SOMEONE HAS THE GUTS TO STICK UP TO THOSE SELF RIGHTEOUS LIBERALS.
I DIDN’T MEAN TO OFFEND YOU. ACTUALLY I DID. WHATEVER. I DON’T EVEN NEED YOUR DONASION. GIMME COINS.
But seriously, this show was free to get in, but its not to get out. It’s a grand. It’s literally a grand to get out. Please pay me a grand now.

Also, would anyone like to buy a painting of Poirot?
