Siblings: Edinburgh Fringe 2018 interview

Hello. How are you today?

Very well thank you, how are you?

At this stage, how closely does your programme blurb match the content of your show?

It’s always such a scary thing writing a blurb for a new show eight months before it’s fully written two weeks before the Fringe and it does actually fit! We are still character comedians, there is some clowning and some intensely serious acting. Definitely some violently synchronised dance and deep rooted familial issues and we are still real life sisters. Check check check.

Who are you sharing a flat with and how will you help each other survive the month?

As is classic with the Edinburgh Fringe, we are sharing a flat with eight people in a three bedroom house 30 minutes away from the centre. There will be plenty of sleeping bags and plenty of spooning. However, we are staying with the best mixture of performers from an amazing kids show band to solo clowns. It’s the little things that help in a house of eight weird people. We will help with each others shows and give each other milk. Last year we had a performer sleeping in a cupboard but he made it look like a little rave den so he was happy. Almost didn’t get the deposit back..almost.

Any shows you’re excited about seeing?

Our list of shows we want to see is endless. There are so many amazing female comedians heading to the fringe this year we can’t wait to see Jayde Adams, Kiri Pritchard-McLean, Emma Sidi Norris & Parker. We cant wait to see what Natalie Palamides brings this year, Travelling Sisters, Elf Lyons, the list could go on and on and on. We also have our favourite wierdos, John Kearns, Jordan Brookes, Sam Campbell, again, the list could go on forever.

Other than the great shows, what else are you looking forward to about your trip to Edinburgh this year?

Other than doing our show last year, our best memories came from the new people we met from all over the world. The general vibe is so exciting to be around. Everyone has come from all walks of life to be entertained and have a big ole cider.

The Fringe’s tagline this year is ‘Into The Unknown’. What do people not know about you?

Marina has six toes but If you ask her about it she will deny it

I’m bored of all the podcasts I currently subscribe to. Can you recommend me a good one please?

We are huge fans of “my dad wrote a porno,” ‘Snap judgement’ random true stories that are incredibly weird and “getting curious with Jonathan van ness” by the guy from queer eye for the straight guy.

Here’s a space to write about anything you want. Go for it.

Arriving at the station,
There’s certainty anticipation
Luggage and props
Hope of the top
But on the third week you completely flop,
Why am I doing this the performer asks
As she glugs the vodka from her beloved flask
the following night comes along
quick and strong
the vibe is right it’s one of the best nights
then suddenly your back
many jokes you improv and crack
the faith is restored and on you go
with new people you’ve met
you now love and now know.
