Tom Lucy: Edinburgh Fringe 2018 interview

Hello. How are you today?

I am very well. Although it’s a little too hot in London for my liking. I know that’s the most English thing to say ever but I’m sitting in an office room that’s full of flies and I don’t know how to get rid of them. I’ve tried opening a window but then more come in. Life is a minefield. Anyway, I’m very well thanks.

At this stage, how closely does your programme blurb match the content of your show?

It’s very similar because my programme blurb is impressively vague. This show is about me coming to terms with being part of the millennial generation and my issues with that. But when you write the blurb back in February you don’t know anything about the show. But I’m told it’s unprofessional to write – I will speak for an hour – as your show blurb. There you go.

Who are you sharing a flat with and how will you help each other survive the month?

I’m sharing with the comedian Jake Lambert. I don’t know how it will work to be honest because last year I lived with my cousin for the month. But I guess there’ll be an air of resentment and tension between myself and Jake that will slowly build throughout the month and will culminate in an incident involving the emergency services.

Any shows you’re excited about seeing?

I’m going to say Jake Lambert because I mentioned his name in the last answer and I imagine he has a Google Alert set up on his name so he’ll now be reading this.

Other than the great shows, what else are you looking forward to about your trip to Edinburgh this year?

Spending some quality time with Jake Lambert.

The Fringe’s tagline this year is ‘Into The Unknown’. What do people not know about you?

I think most of the world probably don’t know that I’m doing a show at the Edinburgh Festival this year. August 1-26 at 8.15pm in the Pleasance Courtyard.

I’m bored of all the podcasts I currently subscribe to. Can you recommend me a good one please?

Mine! It’s called Tom Lucy Plus One and I chat to interesting people from the world of entertainment – comedians, actors, musicians, writers. It’s great. I’m great.

Here’s a space to write about anything you want. Go for it.

What’s the best way to get rid of flies in an office?
