Ashley Ward from improv group Baby Wants Candy answers our questions.
Hello. How are you today?
Pretty good, other than LA being hotter than the devil’s butthole and the US being on the brink of moral collapse. Other than that, can’t complain.
At this stage, how closely does your programme blurb match the content of your show?
Our show is improvised based on an audience suggestion of a title every night which is covered in our blurb, but because it is improvised the actual content of the show changes every single night. So in that case, our blurb is terribly inaccurate, but if it wasn’t it wouldn’t be improvised. This got think-y!
Who are you sharing a flat with and how will you help each other survive the month?
I’ll be in the flat with the cast of Baby Wants Candy and with much of the cast of Thrones! The Musical parody. We’re a pretty fun and funny group of people to hang out with so I imagine there will be lots of laughing and hopefully tons of snacking. Snacking gets me through most things.
Any shows you’re excited about seeing?
Bunches! Andy Zaltzman, Daniel Kitson, Austentacious, Kate Berlant, Trump/Lear, Phil Ellis, Natalie Palamides and on and on.
Other than the great shows, what else are you looking forward to about your trip to Edinburgh this year?
Getting good snacks at Marks and Spencers. Drinking cider. Walking around in disbelief at how lovely it is. Scottish and British accents.
The Fringe’s tagline this year is ‘Into The Unknown’. What do people not know about you?
Ooh. Lots. I’m messy (but I think people know that because it’s obvious if you look at my purse). I’m from Georgia (everyone knows that as soon as they hear me talk). I don’t exercise (that’s readily apparent). Dang. I’m utterly devoid of mystery!
Here’s a space to write about anything you want. Go for it.
I don’t believe any single person (not counting salons or professional manicurists) has ever used an entire bottle of nail polish. Ergo nail polish bottles should be way smaller!
