Finnish comedian Ismo is reaching international audiences due in part to a YouTube clip of his appearance on a late night U.S. chat show discussing the definition of ‘ass’. The meaning of words forms a crucial part of this year’s show.
Hello. How are you today?
Hello. Very good. Also a bit exhausted, I arrived in Finland from the US less than a week ago and have been touring like crazy. So at the moment I have both jet lag and touring van lag.
At this stage, how closely does your programme blurb match the content of your show?
Surprisingly closely. The show is a bit longer than the blurb though. Also, the show is better and funnier. Much funnier than the blurb.
Who are you sharing a flat with and how will you help each other survive the month?
Small animals, insects and possibly ghosts. I will do my best to support them emotionally and food-wise, hopefully they are planning to do the same for me.
Any shows you’re excited about seeing?
I haven’t done my what-shows-to-see homework yet, so too soon to tell. I’m sure Daniel Sloss will be there, like every year so far, so him at least!
Other than the great shows, what else are you looking forward to about your trip to Edinburgh this year?
Long walks by the parks, castles and dungeons while simultaneously eating deep fried haggis with brown sauce. Romantic. Healthy. Tasty.
The Fringe’s tagline this year is ‘Into The Unknown’. What do people not know about you?
When I was about seven I fell off a wall and hit my head quite bad. I have no idea whether that helped me with becoming a comic. I wouldn’t recommend it for future generations though.
I’m bored of all the podcasts I currently subscribe to. Can you recommend me a good one please?
I guess I have the same problem.. so no. I’m planning to start my own soon, so that then, but not yet.
Here’s a space to write about anything you want. Go for it.
Freedom to write anything! At last! Anything I want! So many options, so many things I could write. Hope the space doesn’t run out anytime soon, I have so much to
