Narin Oz: Edinburgh Fringe 2017 interview

narin oz edinburgh fringe

One of the comedy scene’s true eccentrics, Narin Oz takes on the role of mad scientist at this year’s festival.

Hello. How are you today?

This is the most difficult question in this whole Q & A.

At this stage, how closely does your programme blurb match the content of your show?

It doesnt! Here is my NEW blurb:

Narin Oz is a mad scientist, obsessed with cleanliness and order, on the mission to cure dirty thoughts using a powerful liquid she discovered from an ancient well which contains the chemical Hydrogen 2 & Oxygen. One drop and you will never have any dirty thoughts ever again… for 12 seconds…WHAT COMPLETE UTTER BOLLOX IT’S WATER..BLOODY WATER FROM THE FACKIN TOILETS. ELLO! ME NAME’S #DIRTYWOMAN NARIN OZ’S SHADOW (Played by Narin Oz)…CUM WATCH ME SABOTAGE HER SEMINAR EVERY TIME SHE RUNS OUT OF WATER AND I’LL LET YOU FLOP IT IN ME HAND…Oi AND GIVE US SOME GRUB & CASH ASWELL.

Join Narin Oz in this disastrous bonkers seminar. (Contains mud, water, nudity with a hint of profanity).

#DirtyWoman is a work-in-progress show (part of Free Festival) containing a blend of clown, physical comedy, jokes & idiocy caked in mud.

The show will be refined throughout the fringe getting more ridiculous within the hero’s journey narrative.

ITS A FREEEEE SHOW (Bucket donation)!

Have the momentous events of 2016 affected your comedy in any way?

Throughout my life on this planet I have seen many things come and go as an attempt to split us apart- Attempts to divide and conquer- I write and perform comedy to bring people together through laughter- laughing at the dark – reminding us all that we are all one. Basically I just embarrass myself on stage by revealing and doing things that are embarrassing

Who are you sharing a flat with this festival and how will you help each other survive the month?

Leo Kearse and a few others – he has a show on called: I can make you a Tory. I need to ask him when I see him as it was coincidence -I didnt know were sharing the flat until I received the email. He is well funny.

Any shows you’re particularly excited about seeing?

The Sweet Science by Tramp

Leo Kearse: I Can Make You A Tory

Jody Kamali: Hotel Yes Please

Mark Dean Quinn: My Heart On A Plate

Phil Jarvis’s group- Consignia

Other than the great shows, what else are you looking forward to about your trip to Edinburgh this year?

Hanging out with Lottie Bowater, relaxing in the sun and drinking white wine. I am really excited about meeting new people and making new friends.

What celebrity death hit you the hardest in 2016 (mine was Wogan)?

I forgot who died to be honest. RIP to the lot of them.

Here’s a space to write about anything you want. Go for it.

Hello! This is my first ever one hour work in progress show which I will be developing throughout the fringe (I am using the fringe as a workshop-testing my script) and I am really excited and nervous to see how it is received by the audience. Each run of the show will evolve and get better and better because ultimately the audience decides what is kept in. My job is to listen to what they love. All the boring stuff is thrown out. At the end of the run hopefully we will have a great show to tour around the UK.

Please remember the Hashtag. Hashtag DirtyWoman ( #DirtyWoman).

Thank you for everyone who has been really supportive to me so far. I understand that this industry is really competitive so I wish everyone a happy Fringe.

I will be starting a podcast soon so contact me to take part & lets talk bollocks.
