The Dunning-Kruger Effect is when a person fails to adequately assess their level of competence — or specifically, their incompetence — at a task and thus consider themselves much more competent than everyone else.

Stoph plans to struggle against his own uselessness to educate the audience on why some people are too useless to realise how useless they are.

Hello. How are you today?

That’s too much of a personal question and it makes me feel uncomfortable… so in answer to your question, I’m uncomfortable.

At this stage, how closely does your programme blurb match the content of your show?

Pretty closely actually – thanks to my clever use of the word “attempts”. That’s given me a lot of leeway.

Have the momentous events of 2016 affected your act in any way?

Yeah unfortunately Harambe was at least 50% of the show so I’ve had to write around that. To be honest I think it’s better for it… I don’t want to speak ill of the dead, but I’ve never known such a disobedient gorilla.

Who are you sharing a flat with this festival and how will you help each other survive the month?

I’m just renting a room from a guy called Kevin – don’t know who he is. He seems safe based on our phone calls… although there’s no explanation as to where his flatmate went.

Any shows you’re particularly excited about seeing?

Mat Ewins (Adventureman 7: The Return of Adventureman) as I’m yet to see him perform, and Lenny Sherman – he’s only doing half an hour, which is a shame as his hour had a great story behind it.

Other than the great shows, what else are you looking forward to about your trip to Edinburgh this year?

Haggis. I love that stuff and it’s a pain to find even in London.  Edinburgh you can’t get away from it.

What celebrity death hit you the hardest in 2016 (mine was Wogan)?

Wogan’s dead??

Here’s a space to write about anything you want. Go for it.

Rogue One was really disappointing. I know it came out in December, but I can’t stop thinking about it. I don’t understand why so many people like it… it was just a dull film. Ugh.
