Fin Taylor is tackling the subject of white privilege this year at the Edinburgh Fringe in his show Whitey McWhiteface [Great work Fin! – Ed]
From an early preview, it’s a brilliantly challenging and brilliantly funny show that showcases intriguing ideas and asks legitimate questions.
Hello. How are you today?
As I’m writing this it’s the 28th June. I won’t lie, I’ve been drunk since Brexit.
Are you ready for another month of Edinburgh Fringe action?
You bet your (rock) bottom (pound against the) dollar I am. From one metropolitan liberal haven to an other. Where my remain bros at?!
At this stage, how closely does your programme blurb match the content of your show?
To a fucking “t” mate. I ain’t no flip-flopper. It’s about slinging mud at us honkies. I mean, look at the poster (below). Look at the title! I could not have made this any clearer.
What are your tips for getting people to see your show?
I’ve put recordings of my previous shows online so people can really dig into the archive before they buy.
Who are you sharing a flat with this festival and how will you help each other survive the month?
I’m sharing a flat with my girlfriend (chief of production wizzes Berk’s Nest) Jack Barry, Patrick Turpin and old Mat screwball Ewins. I live with my girlfriend and Jack in London, and Patrick and Mat live 400 metres from us so I envisage zero problems. Having said that Ewins will probably try to fuck the kettle at some point.
Any shows you’re particularly excited about seeing?
Ewins, Sean Mcloughlin, Hess, Lolly, Colin Hoult, Nish, Twins, Richard “loves Meth” Gadd, Pierre Novellie, Fuckin Lou Sanders! Man i’m excited about her show. All super folks.
Other than the great shows, what else are you looking forward to about your trip to Edinburgh this year?
What is this question? [I don’t know. What is that question? – Ed]
Salt and sauce on your chips?
Here’s a space to write about anything you want. Go for it.
We’re doing two special Bearpit Podcast Podcasts in the last week. Come to that too. Thanks bye!
