Rousha Browning: Edinburgh Fringe 2016 interview

rousha browning

Rousha Browning has been an essential part of Bob Slayer’s Heroes movement, with a multitude of roles from barmaid to box office.

At this year’s Edinburgh Festival she’s taking the inevitable next step and taking to the stage for a show that includes a host of some of the most disturbing and wonderful characters we’ve seen.

Hello. How are you today?

Heeeeyy! I am well. I think. I hope!

Are you ready for another month of Edinburgh Fringe action?

Most definitely not! But I will be. I think. I hope!

At this stage, how closely does your programme blurb match the content of your show?

Yeah it’s still pretty spot on… although I haven’t begun any previews, so that could all change? By the time I get to Edinburgh it should still be linked to the blurb. Otherwise it’ll be false advertising, no? Can people ask for their money back? I guess I had better make sure I stick to my Blurb!!!

What are your tips for getting people to see your show?

Make a fancy poster. Bribe people with Jelly & Ice-Cream. Serenade them with a fog horn, if all else fails… Cry and beg.

Who are you sharing a flat with this festival and how will you help each other survive the month?

I am sharing a house with James Ross, James Bennison, Kit Sullivan, Stephanie Laing, among others. I think morning chit chats, sharing nice food/buying treats for each other and limiting the amount of ‘show’ talk!!

Any shows you’re particularly excited about seeing?

YES!!!! ALL OF THEM! Ones in particular are: Spencer Jones, Paul Currie, Kathryn Bond, Lucy Pearman, Marny Godden, Cheekykita & Loose Brie.

Other than the great shows, what else are you looking forward to about your trip to Edinburgh this year?

I am looking forward to being surrounded by fellow comedy friends, soaking up the vibes man, I may try a deep-fried Mars Bar (i’ll save that delicacy for a special occasion!) and maybe attempting to walk up Arthur’s Seat on the last day, if I have the energy or enthusiasm for it. But, I may just sleep that day.

Salt and sauce on your chips?

Course Bruv! Mushy Peas too!

Here’s a space to write about anything you want. Go for it.
