Australia’s Axis of Awesome have built up a cult following at the Fringe for their brilliant musical comedy that showcases talent, imagination and a knack for making people laugh.
You’ve most likely seen their most famous song Four Chords already, bit if not, stop what you’re doing and listen now.
Hello. How are you today?
I’m well, I’ve had a nice lunch, the sun is out and I’ve been catching a lot of pokemon on Pokemon Go
Are you ready for another month of Edinburgh Fringe action?
This is our seventh fringe but I don’t think anything can prepare us enough. I mean the show is great and that’s all locked down. But I don’t think we can be prepared for the shenanigans.
At this stage, how closely does your programme blurb match the content of your show?
It’s pretty close. We’ve been performing this show in Australia since February so it’s very tight. Also we’re a musical comedy act the programme blurb has always been “an hour of funny songs”.
What are your tips for getting people to see your show?
Have a very successful YouTube channel
Who are you sharing a flat with this festival and how will you help each other survive the month?
Well the three of us from the band as well as the time travelling magician’s Morgan and West. We’re all pretty quiet, nerdy types so there’s likely to be a lot of board gaming and good times.
Any shows you’re particularly excited about seeing?
There’s a lot of great Aussie talent coming to the fest this year. Keep your eyes on Tom Walker, Susie Youssef, Aunty Donna and The Bear Pack
Other than the great shows, what else are you looking forward to about your trip to Edinburgh this year?
Hanging out with friends we haven’t seen for a while, getting up to mischief and seeing which pokemon I can catch in Edinburgh
Salt and sauce on your chips?
Chicken salt! It’s the best. It’s salt that tastes like chicken and it takes chips to the next level
Here’s a space to write about anything you want. Go for it.
I want to be the very best
Like no one ever was
To catch them is my real test
To train them is my cause
I will travel across the land
Searching far and wide
Each Pokemon to understand
The power that’s inside
