It may still be the first month of the year but eager comedy fans can now snap up the first tickets on sale for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2015.
As expected the comedy line-up is far from expansive, currently comprising five shows.
These are led by young Scottish comedian Daniel Sloss who is taking a major step up with a full run at the 1,200 capacity EICC, previously home to shows from Jimmy Carr and Noel Fielding. The show is called Dark – a response to Daniel becoming “totally sick” of people using the word to describe his comedy.
Also at the EICC is Fringe stalwart Jimeoin in a show called YeeHaa! while Gyles Brandreth joins the list of Radio 4 regulars (John Lloyd, Nicholas Parsons etc) with a show all about words at the Pleasance Courtyard.
The blurb for Brandreth’s Word Power sates: “Words are magic. Join wit and word-meister, former MP and star of Just A Minute, One Show, QI, Have I Got News For You, Room 101 and Countdown on an uproarious magic carpet ride around the world of words.”
The remaining two shows already on sale provide a bit of diversity. Absolute Improv! is a “fast-paced, hilarious improv show” on at theSpace on the Royal Mile and the Best of the Fest is a compilation show at the Assembly Hall.
