Some of the circuit’s brightest young comedians have teamed up on a short film starring British comedy legend Julia Davis.
The Bird is the brainchild of writer and co-director Joe Parham, formerly of Keiran and the Joes, and co-director Ben Target, a nominee for Best Newcomer in the Comedy Awards at the Edinburgh Festival in 2012.
According to its producers, Turtle Canyon Films, it tells “the story of a young man who spends his days desperate to garner the attention of his emotionally absent mother who is only interested in caring for a visiting starling”.
The son is played by Alastair Roberts of sketch group Sheeps and the mother is played by Julia Davis, a familiar face to anyone with an interest in British television comedy thanks to her appearances in Nighty Night, Gavin and Stacey, Inside No. 9 and Big Train to name a few.
Target and Parham have previously collaborated with Turtle Canyon Films on the short film Frank.
